LOST VALLEY LUAU XC MTB RACE

Lost Valley Luau is raced on the Lost Valley Trail, which is an 11 mile loop with a mixture of flowing singletrack and doubletrack punctuated with rock formations and natural springs. The race is run counter-clockwise as it puts most of the climbs on the doubletrack portion and the descents on the singletrack.
The surface of the Lost Valley Trail singletrack varies from dirt to rock, to loose over hard, and as such is among the fastest draining trails in the area. However, don’t be fooled, the early Spring date often brings a twist to trail conditions (prepare for the worst, hope for the best) as the Race will be run rain or shine.
The race starts at the Hamburg Trail Gate where the trail crosses Soldiers Drive, and continues on the Hamburg Trail until taking a right at the drop-in connector to the Lost Valley Trail. The course runs counter-clockwise at the bottom, which means racers will have about a mile's worth of doubletrack climbing to spread out before taking a right into the singletrack.
For 2024, the Lost Valley Luau will continue the new location for the Finish Line; at the top of the Drop-In Connector at the Hamburg Trail. This final 300 yard stretch to the Finish has an average grade of 7.8% and will surely mix-up any finishers racing head to head!

RACE NOTES
- ALL PARTICIPANTS - Please be respectful and courteous of how we share the Hamburg Trail with other riders during the race. We encourage everyone to congregate at the Finish Line, but please do not block the Hamburg trail for cyclists to enjoy their Sunday rides.
- E-MTB PARTICIPANTS - You will have the entire First Lap of the course to yourself. However, some of you may encounter Marathon Riders on your Second Lap. Please be aware that your speed will be significantly higher than the Marathon Riders you may be trying to pass. Please use the utmost caution when doing so!
- MARATHON PARTICIPANTS - Be aware that from 11:00 to 11:30 the remaining Categories will be racing down the Drop-In Connector to the main course loop. Please give these higher speed racers the right of way!
- CATEGORY 1/2/3 PARTICIPANTS - Please take caution on your initial drop-in off the Hamburg to the Lost Valley Trail as there may be riders turning on to the course at the bottom.
- Please do not warm-up on the Lost Valley Trail while other Categories are racing.
- If warming up on the Hamburg Trail, be aware of when racers may be coming through.
- Helmets must be worn at all times while on a bike.
- Please pull over to allow faster riders to pass when on the Singletrack.
Have Fun. You’re outside, enjoy it. Get dirty. No whining. No explanation needed!
